Liz Phair Announces 25th Anniversary Boxset, Girly-Sound To Guyville, Plus New U.S. Tour Dates

Liz Phair has announced the release of a 25th anniversary boxset, Girly-Sound to Guyville, as well as a reissue of her debut 1993 LP, Exile in Guyville, remastered by Emily Lazar, coming out on CD or double remastered LP. Both the boxset and the Exile in Guyville reissue will be released on May 4 via Matador Records.
Phair has also revealed the first new track from the reissue, “Divorce Song,” from one of the Girly-Sound cassettes, Yo Yo Buddy Yup Yup Word To Ya Mutha.
The boxset will feature seven LP’s: Exile in Guyville (double LP), and the three Girly-Sound cassettes, restored from the original tapes and never before released in their entirety. The three tapes include Yo Yo Buddy Yup Yup Word To Ya Mutha (double LP), Girls! Girls! Girls! (double LP) and Sooty (single LP). The boxset will be available on vinyl or as a three-CD set.
The boxset also includes an extensive book featuring essays by Phair and Ann Powers, and an oral history by Jason Cohen. Cohen’s oral history includes interviews with Chris Brokaw, Gerard Cosloy, John Henderson, Chris Holmes, Tutti Jackson, Nash Kato, Mark Ohe, Phair, Casey Rice, Brad Wood and Tae Won Yu. The book features never-before-published photos, and previously unseen artwork and ephemera.
