Updated: Lorde Teases the Impending Release of Her First New Music in Years

Update: Lorde just clarified her tease a bit, posting the following on Facebook: “you’ll wanna come back here at 8am nz / 2pm nyc for a couple of days.. www.imwaitingforit.com.”

It’s been three and a half years since Lorde released her critically acclaimed album Pure Heroine, and several months since she revealed that her new record is written, but it looks like we’re finally getting some new Lorde music soon.

This morning, the young New Zealand artist tweeted “u hungry?” and then followed up with a mysterious link: imwaitingforit.com. The site consists solely of a short clip showing Lorde snacking on some fries and drinking a soda in the backseat of a car (perhaps post-recording session?), and then “3.2.17 NYC” flashes across the screen, followed by “3.3.17 NZ.” This seems to be a pretty clear signal that we’re getting new Lorde music, perhaps as soon as this Thursday. It’s about time—after three years, we finally got “Royals” out of our heads. Oh, wait. No, we didn’t. “And we’ll never be royyyyyals … ”

Lorde is scheduled to make her solo performance debut on SNL on March 11, so presumably we’ll be able to hear her new stuff live soon.
