Lorde has been torturously quiet since rounding out the last of her Melodrama world tour dates in 2018. In a newsletter the musician penned in November, she wrote that she’s been spending her time eating toast, swimming and teaching herself how to play the piano. You know—the quiet, simple life.
As the musician’s heartsick sophomore album Melodrama rounded its second anniversary this weekend, Lorde took to Instagram to celebrate its release and note that her third album is “in the oven.”
“I was such a baby making that work, lots of emotions and learning so much all the time,” she wrote, going on to note the growth she’s experienced since then (she has a dog and can cook bread now, you know). “It’s a good life you’ve given me. Thankyou thankyou. Third one in the oven.”
In November’s newsletter, she stated her next release will be “born around the piano in my house” and “kept simple.” At its time of writing, she hadn’t “started properly on the next record yet,” so it looks like we are getting closer and closer.
