Low Cut Connie Have Trump’s Number on New Protest Song, “Look What They Did”

“Donald Trump made half a billion, what do we gotta show?” Low Cut Connie wonder on their new protest song “Look What They Did.” Frontman Adam Weiner and company haven’t released music since their acclaimed album Dirty Pictures (Part 2) back in 2018, but the rock ‘n’ roll band is back with an important, political and personal message.

Out today, President’s Day, “Look What They Did”—described in a press release as a sequel to Bruce Springsteen’s “Atlantic City”—is accompanied by a powerful music video shot by White House-credentialed photographer Alex Wroblewski. As rendered in haunting black-and-white, Weiner stands in front of casinos in Atlantic City that have been permanently closed, despite Donald Trump promising years ago that they would help the city and the economy in New Jersey to flourish.

“I grew up in New Jersey and spent all my summers in Atlantic City,” explains Weiner in a statement. “When I was a kid, Trump and his buddies convinced the town to let them come in and built all these vacuum-sealed casinos by promising a lot of things to the city that never happened … revenues to schools and seniors and community development. Those times were the backdrop for Bruce’s classic ‘Atlantic City’ song and video.”

“I figured now that almost 40 years has passed, it was time for a little moral and civic check-in,” Weiner continues. “Let’s see where Atlantic City is at now. What we find is some serious devastation. Trump went in on a lie, made his gazillions, stiffed a lot of people and skipped town. Now he’s running his scam on everyone else. In New Jersey, we had his number a long time ago.”
