LVL UP Share “Spirit Was,” Fuzzed-Out Third Single Off Return To Love
Images via Shawn Brackbill, Sub PopNew York indie-rock outfit LVL UP have shared a fuzzed-out gem in “Spirit Was,” the fourth track from their forthcoming Sub Pop debut. The much-anticipated Return To Love, due out later this month, is the band’s third album, and “Spirit Was” is the third single off it, following August’s “Hidden Driver” and July’s “Pain.”
Return To Love was produced by Mike Ditrio, who mixed LVL UP’s first two albums and “was basically a fifth member of the band,” says bassist Nick Corbo. All advance indications, including the laidback lope of “Spirit Was,” point to a warm, emotional lo-fi album underpinned by a deceptive degree of artfulness and ambition.
On top of the new tune, LVL UP have also expanded their fall tour. Their slate now includes a record release show at Market Hotel in Brooklyn, N.Y., plus dates with Bear vs Shark, Alex G and Eskimeaux.
Return To Love is out on Sept. 23—you can pre-order it here. Pre-order the LP via Sub Pop Mega Mart or an independent retailer to receive the limited Loser Edition of the album on orange creamsicle swirl vinyl (while supplies last).
