Mac DeMarco Shares Truly Strange James Taylor Cover

Mac DeMarco brings his distinct warbley guitar tone and crooning vocals to a cover of James Taylor’s “I Was a Fool to Care.” DeMarco’s self described jizz-jazz styling lends itself surprisingly well to Taylor’s “unique brand of bittersweet folk-rock”, as Buzz Aldrin describes it in The Simpson’s episode, “Deep Space Homer,” that ends the bizarre video. In it, a man wearing what appears to be a doggy sex mask carries around a photo of Sweet Baby James and it concludes by him taking the mask off to watch the aforementioned Simpson’s clip, which features a cameo from Taylor. The YouTube description reads, “Every now and then a doggie needs his sweet baby James” and is also dedicated to Prince. The cover also features DeMarco’s touring keyboardist Jon Lent.
