The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner has released the official cause of death for Malcolm McCormick, aka Mac Miller.
The 26-year-old rapper “was found to have died from mixed drug toxicity,” according to the coroner’s report, with a mix of cocaine, fentanyl and ethanol in his system. His death was ruled an accident.
Fentanyl has reportedly been a factor in a rising tide of accidental overdoses, including Prince’s.
A tribute concert for Miller took place at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles last Wednesday, Oct. 31, with performances from Anderson .Paak, Chance the Rapper, Miguel, SZA and more. All proceeds went to benefit the Mac Miller Circles Fund.
