Madeline Kenney Releases “Plain Boring Disaster”

Alt-folk darling Madeline Kenney has released the final single from her forthcoming album A New Reality Mind, out July 28th via Carpark Records. “Plain Boring Disaster” is a shimmering catharsis; an electronic track which blooms into religious synths and arpeggiating guitars. Kenney’s layered vocals create a wholeness unique to her music, a precarious, delightful balance of energy and calm. “Well I might as well stay here, I know that’s surprising for me,” she sings. “I don’t try to forget my friends, and I don’t know when that started happening.”

“In this song, I believe I realized that my mistakes did not, in fact, make me unique or genius or special. I, like everyone else, am muddling through my most ordinary disaster of a life. Song can make you feel like you have something to say or expose – here I’m reminding myself that nothing is truly new,” Kenney notes of the light-filled track.
