Chaotic punk outfit Mannequin Pussy have shared a new video for “Cream,” the latest cut from the band’s forthcoming album Patience.
Set inside of some nightmarish dollhouse mangled by ‘70s print patterns and furniture, the video unfolds inside of a monochromatic nightmare. Vocalist Marisa Dabice peers into vanity mirrors, screams into the faces of her band members and stubs out a cigarette in a pile of vomit as demons appear in windows and bastardized doppelgängers surround her.
Director Hanna Hamilton described the video as heavily inspired by traditional horror tropes. In addition to stylized wardrobe and set dressing, the production team used a vintage Cooke zoom super 16 lens and formatted the video to 4:3 to enhance the ‘70s feel.
“Aside from that, the demons pretty much did the rest!” Hamilton said in a statement.
Described in a press release as a sonic exploration of the “movements of mouths and hands and racing hearts, skin and spit and teeth and blood,” Patience is set to release June 21 via Epitaph.
