"Uptown Funk" Has Achieved Diamond Certification

Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars have now joined the elite few musical artists to achieve RIAA Diamond status (selling more than 10 million songs/albums) for a song—they are only the 10th act in history to do so. Ronson’s fourth studio album, Uptown Special, from which the song is pulled, has also achieved platinum status.

RIAA has operated its Gold and Platinum certification program since 1958, but it was extended in 1999 to include Diamond status. “Uptown Funk” is one of five songs ever to be certified 11x Diamond or higher in the history of the RIAA Awards.

Following a rapid climb to the top of charts, “Uptown Funk” held the number-one position on the Billboard Hot 100 for 14 weeks, making it the second-longest number one in U.S chart history (behind Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men at 16 weeks). It won “Record Of The Year” at the 2016 Grammy Awards, and was the best-selling song of 2015.

The track has been certified Multi-Platinum in Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Mexico and the U.K., as well as being awarded Diamond certification in Canada and France. In addition to winning “Record Of The Year” at the Grammys, it was named “Best Single” at the U.K.’s BRIT Awards, “Song Of The Year” and “Video Of The Year” at the Soul Train Awards, and “Best Male Video” at the MTV VMAs.
