Heavy rock quartet Mastodon have announced a North American co-headlining tour with alt-rock greats Dinosaur Jr.
Mastodon, who are also set to begin a co-headlining with tour with Primus in May, will join Dinosaur Jr. on tour in September. The 13-date tour includes several Canadian dates, as well as shows in Cleveland, Milwaukee, Ft. Wayne, Grand Rapids and other U.S. cities. Mastodon and Dinosaur Jr.’s fan club ticket pre-sale begins May 1 at 10 a.m. local time, while the Blabbermouth.net pre-sale begins May 2 at 10 a.m. local time. Pre-sale for all local markets begins May 3, at 10 a.m. local time and general tickets go on sale May 4 at 10 a.m. local time.
Mastodon said of the tour, “We are so stoked to be doing a proper Canadian and far North American cities tour with the legendary Dinosaur Jr. We’ve been talking about it for years and it’s finally happening!! We hope to see you there!!”
Mastodon recently released an animated video for “Clandestiny,” a track from their 2017 album Emperor Of Sand. The dark, dystopian video was directed, produced, animated and edited by Ariel Costa, who’s also made videos for Led Zeppelin and Green Day. The band’s latest release came in the form of last year’s four-song EP, Cold Dark Place, which compiled previously unreleased tracks and songs from the Emperor of Sand sessions.
