The Kennedy Center Honors, an annual celebration of impactful artists televised from the White House, have announced The Eagles, Al Pacino, Mavis Staples, James Taylor and Argentinian pianist Martha Argerich as the 2016 honorees.

All five artists will receive awards as well as tributes including cover performances, plus speeches from other artists.

“These honorees represent what is possible when creativity is not just cultivated, but unleashed,” said Kennedy Center chairman David M. Rubenstein.

The honors will occur on Dec. 4 and will air on Dec. 27 at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.

“These honorees have each played a unique role in shaping America’s artistic landscape with their work, expressing their creativity in ways that pushed the boundaries of what art can do, and what it can mean,” said Kennedy Center President Deborah F. Rutter. “Their artistic triumphs have motivated us, moved us, and will continue to inspire us for generations to come.”
