Kirk Hammett dubbed unforgiven by Swifties following recent T-shirt choice
Taylor Swift fans will be ready to seek and destroy following the Metallica guitarist’s donning of a T-shirt describing the singer as a “CIA psyop.”

Sad but true: Kirk Hammett’s recent fashion choices may have just sparked the fury of the world’s most terrifying fanbase. Taylor Swift fans were not amused by the T-shirt that the Metallica guitarist wore during the band’s recent concert at the Puskás Arena in Budapest, Hungary, which featured a picture of Swift and the slogan: “Taylor Swift is a CIA psyop.”
The T-shirt is likely a play on the conspiracy theory that Brooklyn-based band Geese and their marketing budget marks them not just as industry plants but as a military psyop. Regardless, it seems that Swifties were not best amused, and they showed no remorse in taking to X to bring attention to the fashion choice, opting to fight fire with fire by describing Metallica as a “has-been band.”
Swift is currently sitting atop the Billboard Hot 100 for the 15th time with her latest single “I Knew It, I Knew You,” from the Toy Story 5 soundtrack. Has-been Metallica are in the midst of a sold-out European tour and will go on to begin a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas from October 2026 through March 2027. On Friday, June 19, Hammett slipped off-stage in Dublin. Karma?
