U.K. electronic indie-pop band Metronomy shared a new music video on Friday for their song “Whitsand Bay.”
The Joseph Mount-fronted band launched into success with their critically acclaimed album, Metronomy Forever, which was released in September last year via Because Music.
“Whitsand Bay” is one of the songs off Metronomy Forever, a groovy track with a funky bass line and fun beats off the drums that could get anyone tapping their feet.
Mount says of the track in a statement:
This is a pivotal track between the old idea I had for the album (i.e. a more standard form 10 track piece) and what the album is now. It’s intentionally free and easy and uses a loop I made on the LinnDrum to create the “drum ‘n’ bass lite” rhythm. It’s one of my favorite tracks on the album because it became a starting point for what the album is now. I also quite like the idea of having another song called the bay to distract people from the original bay.
The video for “Whitsand Bay” is directed by Sam Davis and Tom Andrew, and, accompanying what sounds like an ‘80s-inspired dance tune, is appropriately retro, featuring aesthetically pleasing shots of a disco light in the most random places, like everywhere from a camper in the middle of the woods to a subway station.
