Try not falling in love with Dre Babinski and that angelic – no, it’s even better than that, but it’s hard to conceive what could ever be better than that so we’ll go with angelic — voice.
Just try.
Try not falling in love with every single one of the songs that she and Edson Choi create together as Miracle Days.
They are gossamer trails of light. They are bowls of punch. They are sleepy eyes unclouded.
They feel like the streaking of airplanes cutting through the sky at 45-degree angles, in pedestrian speed. They are that suspension of all weight and almost a suspension of time. It’s a lift above the dirty floor, all of the exhaust and every one of the filthy words that are being exchanged below.
Babinski sings, “When the smoke is all clear and they’re coming near/We’re on our knees,” on the song, “No Place,” before hinting at heaven and a higher road.
These songs are like favorite shirts and comfort food. It’s the flannel shirt that you’ll gladly wear five days in-a-row during the autumn months, even when the elbows explode out into worn holes. They are familiar kisses and the perfect touch.
