Modern Baseball Go Behind the Music in Mini-Documentary Tripping in the Dark
Images via Facebook, YouTubeIt’s no Madison Square Garden fashion show, but a mini-documentary is certainly an interesting way to promote an album. Tripping in the Dark, a Behind the Music-esque look at Philly pop-punk band Modern Baseball, is no gimmick, though.
The band’s origin story is told through animation and narration by voice actor Rick Lance, but despite its initial playfulness (including a perfect homage to the Freaks and Geeks intro), the documentary takes on a more sober tone as it covers the passing of guitarist Jake Ewald’s grandfather and guitarist Brendan Lukens’ struggle with depression.
Modern Baseball’s third studio album, Holy Ghost, is out May 13 on Run for Cover Records. Below, watch the band’s mini-documentary, then listen to our Daytrotter session with the band.
