Watch: Morrissey’s Teen Years Detailed in Trailer for New Biopic, England Is Mine

The first trailer for a biopic about alternative icon Morrissey’s upbringing has been revealed. The film, titled England Is Mine, follows the former Smiths’ vocalist until his first encounter with Johnny Marr, the former guitarist for The Smiths. It will release in theaters on Aug. 4.

Jack Lowden, known for his acting roles in Dunkirk and War & Peace, will play the role of Morrissey. Jessica Brown Findlay, of Black Mirror and Downton Abbey, will play Morrissey’s best friend, Linder Sterling.

The film, originally titled Steven, is directed by Oscar nominee Mark Gill and produced by Baldwin Li and Orian Williams. Prior to releasing in theaters, England Is Mine will make its debut this weekend at the Edinburgh Film Festival.
