Gearing up for the release of their sophomore album, MUNA have released their latest single, “Who.”
The trio previously released their single “Number One Fan” from their sophomore LP Saves The World, which is out Sept. 6 via RCA Records. “Who” sees the LGBTQ-representing trio continue the ’80s sentiment of “Number One Fan” in a more subdued way. Frontwoman Katie Gavin sings of a love lost: “I need to know who, who / Who are you singing about? / Who, who, who are you singing about now?”
Accompanying the single, the video for the track sees Gavin watch helplessly as the lives of her loved ones go on with her. Whereas “Number One Fan” captured the loneliness of Tinder, “Who” captures the loneliness of heartbreak.
The single is set for MUNA’s album Saves The World, which finds the trio “after they’ve rebuilt their confidence in themselves as musicians, as a band and as the bestest of friends,” according to the band’s Spotify biography. Saves The World follows up the band’s fierce debut About U, which dealt with the state of the LGBTQ community in society, and heavy topics such as sexual assault and abusive relationships.
