Grammy-winning producer and British solo artist Mura Masa is preparing to release his new album, R.Y.C (Raw Youth Collage), on Jan. 17 via Geffen Records. Following his previous album tracks with slowthai and Clairo, Mura Masa is unveiling his latest single “Teenage Headache Dreams,” which features Ellie Rowsell of Wolf Alice and has an accompanying music video also out today (Jan. 10).
Following the rave-y indie-dance collab with Clairo, and his electro-punk and hip-hop track with slowthai, “Teenage Headache Dreams” is the next chapter of Mura Masa’s increasingly versatile repertoire. On this track, Mura Masa marries electronic beats with a tender dream-pop foundation. The 23-year-old songwriter yearns for his simpler past, but also realizes that he can still tap into that purity whenever he wants. Rowsell lends her misty vocal talents to the track, evoking the inevitably fleeting beauty of life. Mura Masa’s ability to channel heartbreak, escapism, grace and alienation with such a wide palette of sounds is hard to match.
Mura Masa is touring extensively in support of R.Y.C, including a sizable North American tour in April and May, which includes an appearance at Coachella.
