Nation of Language Unveil Next Single “Too Much, Enough”

Brooklyn synth-pop trio Nation of Language are back with another single from their forthcoming third album, Strange Disciple, out September 15 via [PIAS]. “Too Much, Enough” follows previous releases “Weak In Your Light,” “Sole Obsession” and “Stumbling Still” and continues the band’s eclipsing, immediate and danceable destiny. On “Too Much, Enough” especially, keyboardist Aidan Noell shines greatly—as the her craftsmanship shines in technicolor ricochets of harmonized, looping glitz. Vocalist Ian Devaney’s brooding octave explodes into a proto-tenor, as the wall of sound that Nation of Language have forged swell into a timely critique about news cycles, media addiction and manufactured anger.

Months ago, we named Nation of Language the best synth-pop band in the world. Today, we concur with our own proclamation once again. Watch the star-studded music video for “Too Much, Enough,” featuring cameos from Jimmi Simpson, Reggie Watts, Tomberlin, Adam Green, Greg Rutkin and Kevin Morby, below.

Earlier this month, we included Nation of Language in our greatest synth-pop albums of all time ranking. Read the full feature here and see where the trio placed.
