New Order Announce North American Tour
Photo by Nick WilsonBritish pop-punk pioneers New Order have announced a North American tour.
Kicking off this August and culminating in October with two shows in Hawaii, the run is relatively short, totaling seven shows. But despite its brevity, the tour is a warmly welcomed one—it’s been a hot minute since the band played American cities like Washington, D.C. and St. Paul. Also, try to recall the last time you saw Hawaii on a rock band’s touring schedule (we bet you can’t). Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 22.
Last year, the band dropped a live album, NOMC15, which they recorded at London’s Brixton Academy in 2015 during a tour backing Music Complete, released the same year. But the band, the phoenix born of Joy Division’s ashes in 1980, has seen its share of disagreements. Also in 2015, former bassist Peter Hook filed a lawsuit against the band, claiming royalties from both New Order and Joy Division assets. Thankfully, the two parties reached a settlement in September. The band said the issues were “dealt with” and a full settlement was reached.
