Following the release of March’s great Miss Universe, Nilüfer Yanya shared a video for album cut “Paradise” on Thursday morning.
The song finds the British songwriter grappling with questions of whether paradise is a physical location or just a feeling. The track is sensual and understated, texturing the jazzy guitar with processed horns to create a neo-lounge groove that Yanya’s vocals glide over with ease.
The video for “Paradise” was shot by Yanya’s sister, Molly Daniel, in Istanbul. It’s a lo-fi, low-key affair, showing Yanya in various locations throughout the city drinking and dancing, shopping and singing. Celebrating her international heritage, Yanya adorns classical Turkish garb in some shots and looks like a Londoner in her Carhartts in others.
