Watch Norah Jones’s Stunning Cover of Chris Cornell’s “Black Hole Sun”
Photo by Frazer Harrison/GettyNorah Jones paid tribute to the late Soundgarden frontman at her concert Tuesday with a piano rendition of “Black Hole Sun.”
The cover comes just five days after Chris Cornell’s unexpected death, which has been ruled a suicide. Cornell’s wife says that prescription drugs may have played a role, possibly distorting his mental state and altering his ability to think clearly.
Jones was playing at Detroit’s Fox Theatre—the same venue where Cornell lived out his last moments onstage. The performance was quiet and somber, after which Jones stated, “Thanks for giving us a lot of love. We love you,” apparently referring to Cornell.
Artists of all genres have been paying tribute to Cornell, including Megadeth and Heart. You can watch Jones’ performance above.
