Watch the Frenetic First Trailer for Oasis Documentary Supersonic
Images via YouTube, Dan Callister/GettyNext month, a documentary about the explosive rise—and slow, incident-laden fragmentation and deterioration—of Oasis will open in U.K. and Irish theaters.
Directed by Mat Whitecross and executive-produced by Asif Kapadia—director of Oscar-winning Amy Winehouse documentary Amy—the documentary follows the Gallagher brothers’ origins, inspirations and thoughts about becoming one of the biggest bands in the world. It looks into what made their band so successful, and the elements of the brothers’ relationship that caused their stardom to crumble from the inside out.
Trouble seemed to find the Gallagher brothers and Oasis, as they rarely made it long before getting involved in a controversy, a drunken fight, or slandering one another. The band cooperated fully with Supersonic filmmakers, though the Gallagher brothers went so far as to record their voiceovers separately in order to avoid each other.
Supersonic premieres across the pond on Oct. 2, and comes out on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download on Oct. 31. An official theatrical release date has yet to be set for the United States, but after watching the trailer, it certainly seems like something worth waiting for.
