Palehound Releases New Single “My Evil,” Announces US Tour

A month after soaring lead single “The Clutch,” alt-rock mainstay Palehound have unveiled a quieter lamentation with “My Evil.” Their fourth LP, Eye on The Bat, is out July 14 via Polyvinyl Records. “My Evil’s” richness lies in its simplicity, weariness projected into dissociation and self-reckoning. Lead singer and guitarist El Kempner’s breezy vocals float above a light yet lush bevy of instrumentals.

“Sometimes when you try so hard to be a ‘good person’ you’re actually swinging so far and recklessly that you make a full circle back to being a shithead,” Kempner explains. “It can be very hard to forgive yourself, and this song is a portrait of that struggle for me.”

“My Evil’s” matching lyric video is, perhaps relatedly, a tongue-in-cheek tribute to The Sopranos intro. Kempner and longtime friend Richard Orofino drove through Jersey in a DIY remake of the famed opening; watch it and check out Palehound’s US tour dates below.
