For experimental producer Pam3, AKA Pamela Santiago, making a music video has long been a dream. Today that dream gets realized, thanks to a new visual accompaniment to her 2024 bedroom pop track “for you.” A highlight from her album 2p, she had a close friend in mind to help her create it. “I’d been wanting to do a music video with my friend Eleanor Petry since forever and it finally came to fruition last year. We shot the bulk of it in East Harlem. I chose that neighborhood because I’ll never forget when I first stumbled upon it during a stint I did in NYC in 2019, it felt like a home away from home, a mini Puerto Rico, a diasporic miracle,” Santiago says.

She seems right at home frolicking around the streets of East Harlem, and later in the colored haze of a spotlight. Sliding between English and Spanish, the rolling beat matches the carefree disposition of her movements. She elaborates, “The beat was produced by my friend Carlos Martinez. The melody and chorus for “for you” came to me right away, on a walk, and I knew it was something special. To me it was as if Sade tried dembow.”

While currently based out of San Antonio, and before all over the United States, Pam3 always goes back to Puerto Rico in place and sound. The result is a unique conglomeration of influences that forms Santiago’s signature fusion of dream pop, reggaeton, and dancehall sounds.
