Parliament-Funkadelic Jammed For Five Hours on Halloween in 1995

It’s Halloween, which means you’re probably either preparing to take your kids into the streets tonight for a few hours of sugar-hyped tomfoolery, or you’re pondering which alcoholic potions you’re planning to consume in a fit of foggy jubilee. Halloween is also a big night for concerts. If you’re in NYC, maybe you’re heading to see Bob Weir at Madison Square Garden tonight, or perhaps Sleater-Kinney at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

In 1995, the legendary Parliament-Funkadelic were on the NYC Halloween junket, playing the now-shuttered venue Tramps for nearly five hours straight. George Clinton has been known for decades for his live performances, and seeing a Parliament show in such an intimate space must’ve been incredible. We weren’t there—and chances are, neither were you. But thankfully we have the whole performance here for your Halloween listening pleasure, courtesy of the Paste vault.

There were 18 musicians in the collective on this night, and they played Parliament hits like “Atomic Dog” and “Mothership Connection.” The set also included a 26-minute mash-up of “Standing on the Verge of Getting It On” and “Funky Dollar Bill.”
