June’s Paste Studio Sampler Features CHON, Dashboard Confessional, More

The Paste Sampler is back.

Each month, the Paste Studio in New York brings in dozens of veteran and up-and-coming acts for live-streamed jam sessions at the Manhattan Center.

Now, we’re bringing back something near and dear to our hearts with The Paste Sampler, our curated picks from those studio performances.

You can download or stream 10 of our favorite tracks every month to discover your next music obsession.

This month’s summery installment kicks of with London six-piece Sports Team’s Ashton Kutcher-inspired, rollicking record of relationship troubles and a hopeful, stripped-down, all-American song that pulls from the immigrant experience by Grammy-winning blues musician Keb’ Mo’.

There’s also a strummer from the electrifying reggae act HIRIE, a heartsick ballad from L.A.-based indie-rock vets Local Natives, German garage-pop duo Gurr’s hypnotic “Moby Dick” performance, a swirling blend of spidering guitars from math rockers CHON, and a bright and comforting mosey from choral pop-rock band Ages and Ages.

Funky eight-piece brass band The Soul Rebels offer up a smooth, perfectly melded cover of Nas’ “If I Ruled the World (Imagine That),” while Detroit-based indie-pop band JR JR give us a toe-tapping, swaying groove with “Day In, Day Out.” Alt-rock outfit Dashboard Confessional close out the sampler with the sentimental fan favorite “Stolen.”
