Patio Release New Single “En Plein Air”

The enthralling, New York-based post-punk Patio (bassist-vocalist Loren DiBlasi, guitarist-vocalist Lindsey-Paige “LP” McCloy and drummer Alice Suh) have released their first new song since garnering significant acclaim for their debut LP Essentials in 2019. The release of “En Plein Air,” produced by Water From Your Eyes’ Nate Amos, marks a triumphant return for the group after a brief hiatus, reviving their glistering melodies and grotesque yet contemplative lyricism.

“En Plein Air” feels liberating, as if the band’s vulnerability has truly broken free through once the echoing melody repeats across the track’s beginning. Drawing influence from Donna Summer and The Bee Gees, a feeling of disco-inspired grooviness emerges from the guitar’s chords, all while still presenting a sense of intensity and confrontation. The lead vocals mesh with the overall rhythm, adding a unique quietness to overlay the tune. It is playful yet brooding, stating its intentions through contemplative lyrics that give a refreshing new feel to Patio’s sonic makeup.
