Watch Paul McCartney Drive Down Memory Lane in Liverpool on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke

After much speculation, James Corden hosted the one and only Paul McCartney on The Late Late Show’s Carpool Karaoke, and we’re here to report that nothing has ever been more good or pure. During the 23-minute episode, the two Englishmen tour Liverpool—McCartney’s childhood home, where The Beatles famously first collaborated—jam out to tracks old and new, and swap musical stories. At one point (it’s during “Let It Be,” circa 06:45), Corden even becomes floored with emotion following one of McCartney’s retellings. But with all the moving tales of Beatles lore, there’s also lots of laughs, replete with James Corden’s typical verve. Watch it all go down below.

If you’re one to watch Carpool Karaoke clips on the fly, take it from us: You’ll want to carve out the entire 23 minutes for this one—watch until the end for an emotional take on “Hey Jude.” Corden and McCartney also drive to “Blackbird” and “Come On To Me,” one of McCartney’s newly released singles. Corden also dons a number of Beatles-inspired costumes, all of which you’ll want to see, too.

Corden was thrilled with this particular episode’s result, and his reaction (below) is only fitting, considering the excitement that having Paul McCartney ride around Liverpool in one’s car would induce.

Paul McCartney announced this week that his first new album since 2013, Egypt Station, is set to arrive on Sept. 7 via Captiol Records. He also shared two singles from the record, the rousing rock track “Come On To Me” and its more soothing counterpart “I Don’t Know,” and their accompanying lyric videos. Find those tunes here.
