Chance the Rapper Producer Peter Cottontale Drops Star-Studded New Song

The Social Experiment released Surf in the spring of 2015—the album was the first available for complimentary download on iTunes. In case you’re unfamiliar with The Social Experiment, it can be described as a Chance the Rapper brain trust and is made up of five members; Chance, Nico Segal (then known as Donnie Trumpet, before a certain someone ruined that name for him), Peter Cottontale, Nate Fox and Stix. They’ve also featured artists like Jamila Woods, who supplies the angelic vocals on “Sunday Candy,” and D.R.A.M., who made an appearance on “Caretaker.”

Peter Cottontale is the producer and keyboardist from The Social Experiment. He has key production credits on both Chance’s debut album 10 Day and its follow-up Acid Rap. He’s also made a name for himself by producing for the likes of Vic Mensa (“Down on My Luck”) and SZA (“Anything”).

As a birthday present to himself, Peter Cottontale’s dropped a new track, “Forever Always,” with his long-time friend Chance, British lover boy Rex Orange County, soul survivor Daniel Caesar and others. The track is anchored by a Chance verse with support from standout Rex ad-libs and church choir-like harmonies. The airy, mid-tempo track is an adorable love letter to his “number one song on every playlist.”

Chance the Rapper released Coloring Book in 2016 and Rex Orange County was most recently featured on Tyler, the Creator’s acclaimed 2017 album Flower Boy. Listen to “Forever Always” below.
