This is Not a Drill: Lucy Dacus, Julien Baker and Phoebe Bridgers Have a Project in the Works

On Wednesday night, NPR Music hosted “Turning The Tables Live,” a concert and discussion held in New York City in conjunction with their recent list of the 200 greatest songs by 21st century women. I’m With Her opened the night, and Mitski, Phoebe Bridgers, Jamila Woods and Carly Rae Jepsen literally sang songs in a circle. As Brooklyn Vegan points out, that circle of friendship wasn’t the only good thing to come out the evening: Moderator Ann Powers asked Phoebe Bridgers about a potential project with fellow indie-rock stars Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, and she confirmed that it’s real.

There’s no other details about the project as of now, but if these three are involved, we have a feeling it’s going to be something special (and probably also Kleenex-worthy). Few artists today can stir up emotion quite like Baker, Bridgers and Dacus, the latter of whom released our favorite album of the year so far.

Baker and Dacus are both signed to Matador, and have toured together; moreover, Bridgers and Baker have also toured together. The more we think about this potential album, the more it makes complete sense.
