Prophets of Rage Release New Single, Also Called “Prophets of Rage”

Los Angeles-based hard-rock supergroup Prophets of Rage, self-described as an “elite task force of revolutionary musicians determined to confront this mountain of election year bullshit,” have released a new single today, available on all digital download and streaming platforms.

The eponymous song, titled “Prophets of Rage”, is a re-work of the original song of the same name by Public Enemy, featuring new music and a new verse by B-Real of Cypress Hill. The single was produced by Brendan O’Brien, a legendary producer who’s worked with both Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave.

Prophets of Rage have a busy summer ahead of them: they’re slated to debut the new song on Jimmy Kimmel Live on July 25 after a scheduled appearance at the Agora in Cleveland—the site of this year’s Republican National Convention—on July 19. Following these performances, the supergroup will embark on a nationwide tour in August aptly titled “MAKE AMERICA RAGE AGAIN,” making stops in major cities like New York City, Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta and their hometown of Los Angeles before wrapping the tour in San Diego mere weeks before election day. Portions of the proceeds of these show will go towards local homeless charities.

Prophets of Rage have already caused quite the stir even before their inaugural tour, playing three sold-out shows at The Whisky, The Palladium and Brooklyn’s Warsaw Ballroom, promising “No Sleep Til’ Cleveland” to legions of dedicated fans, and getting the hashtags #MakeAmericaRageAgain and #TakethePowerBack trending nationwide. Their tour will clash directly with the campaign trails of the prospective presidential candidates before November’s sure-to-be-controversial election day, in what’s been the most engrossing (emphasis on “gross”) election year yet.
