PUP Are on the Brink of Death in “Sibling Rivalry” Music Video

Canadian punk outfit PUP have unveiled the music video for “Sibling Rivalry,” one of the lead cuts from their latest release Morbid Stuff.

Composed of both stop-motion and animation by Martin MacPherson, the music video is frenzied, frantic and a lot of fun. Stick-figure drawings scribbled on printer paper, index cards and PSA flyers for shark attacks tell the story of vocalist Stefan Babcock’s many chaotic camping trips with his sister, some of which involve almost freezing to death on the southern tip of South America, rafting down the contaminated sewage creek behind their home in an inflatable boat and nearly drowning, and a lot of vomit.

The last third of the video turns inward, as a title card states that “being in a band is kind of like having a bunch of siblings,” and a step-by-step pictorial guide on How to Get Along as a Band and images of the members flash on screen.

“My sister and I go on pretty wild camping trips every year,” Babcock said in a statement. “Each year they get crazier and crazier, because we’re constantly trying to out-dumb one another. This song is about a couple of those trips.”
