Rachel Bobbitt Shares “Two Bit,” Announces New EP

Toronto singer/songwriter Rachel Bobbitt is back with another stomach-jilting piece of bedroom alt-pop perfection. Lead single “Two Bit” is a gorgeous sonic and emotional introduction to her upcoming EP The Half We Still Have , out August 4 via Fantasy Records. The track delicately traces the painful outline of a young relationship defined by permeating power imbalances; Bobbitt’s light, controlled soprano swells atop a cresting wave of desperate instrumentation, a crumpled white flag of epically upsetting proportions.

The Half We Still Have centers around the more damaging interpersonal relationships of Bobbitt’s life, and the retroactive appreciation she holds for her younger self’s vulnerability. “Throughout every complicated, demoralizing, or harmful relationship, there has always been that slice of myself that remained mine, even when I didn’t feel it,” she explains. “The Half We Still Have centers around that small piece, and the connections that threaten it.”
