Railroad Earth – Long Walk Home

Wolfgang's Vault (San Francisco, CA), 01/29/2011

New Jersey based sextet Railroad Earth sing of America’s changing landscape and social ills with a commitment reminiscent of Woody Guthrie, interpolated with instrumentals pulled from Celtic or Cajun culture. The name Railroad Earth was inspired by a Jack Kerouac short story “October in the Railroad Earth.” They offer a mix of rock, jam band, celtic-tinged bluegrass, and Americana stylings; anyone who has caught them live will attest that their concerts are imbued with the fire-in-the-belly passion and storytelling. The newest album, the band’s sixth since their formation in 2001, is simply called Railroad Earth. On an early West Coast stop during their 2011 tour which continues nearly all year, Railroad Earth stopped by Wolfgang’s Vault for this Vault Session.
