Red Hot Chili Peppers Announce First New Single In Nearly Five Years

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are making a comeback after nearly five years of musical silence.

The four piece birthed from the city of angels announced yesterday that fans would be able to listen to their brand new single, “Dark Necessities” as early as Thursday. Back in January, Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis shared that the band was in “the home stretch” in their studio work on the album.

Not only is this their first new release in half a decade, but it marks the first single off of their long-awaited follow-up to 2011’s I’m With You. The rock band that’s not only transcended genre but is still going strong after over three decades of music-making worked with Danger Mouse and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich to produce their latest album.

The band made the single release announcement over Twitter.
