Daily Dose: Ride, “Catch You Dreaming”
Photo by Emilie BaileyEnglish shoegazers Ride are back with their first new music since last year’s Weather Diaries, their first LP in over 20 years.
Their new song, “Catch You Dreaming,” is from their forthcoming four-track EP, Tomorrow’s Shore, out on Feb. 16 via Wichita Recordings. It follows their previously released track, “Pulsar.”
“Catch You Dreaming” features distorted guitars, electronic beats, Mark Gardener and Andy Bell’s soft, echoing lead and backing vocals, and atmospheric synths, taking listeners on a six-minute, hazy musical odyssey outside of space and time.
The band’s two new tracks, along with their album, Weather Diaries, mark a departure from the band’s quintessential sound, ditching their beloved shoegaze for modern, electronic rock. However, their layered sound, ethereal vibes and juxtaposition of chaotic noise with delicate, beautiful solace that Ride fans know and love remains.
