Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever Share New Single “In the Capital”

Melbourne indie rockers Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever have shared a brand new single titled “In the Capital.” The track, which is now available digitally, will receive a physical release as a limited-edition 7” through Sub Pop on April 26. The vinyl copy will include a b-side track titled “Read My Mind.”

“In the Capital” has the same glossy, youthful sheen that’s easily distinguishable on past Rolling Blackouts hits like “French Press” and “Talking Straight.” It comes as the first new music the five-piece has put out since their debut album Hope Downs was released in June 2018.

“I first had the idea for the melody and some of the lyrics when I was swimming,” said Rolling Blackouts’ Fran Kearney of the track’s creation. “It’s taken a while to finish the song, to make it feel like the initial feeling. I can’t neatly describe it, but something like connection despite distance. I was thinking about transience and water and death and big cities and fishing towns and moon river.”

To celebrate the release of new material, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever have extended their 2019 tour schedule to include headlining dates in North America, Europe and the U.K., as well as a number of festival appearances around the world.
