Daily Dose: Rome Hero Foxes, “Lost In A Room”

Daily Dose is your daily source for the song you absolutely, positively need to hear every day. Curated by the Paste Music Team.

Houston-based Rome Hero Foxes formed while they were still in high school, and their latest track, “Lost In A Room,” seems to glorify and occupy that exact time period. The indie-rock band’s new track is the second single from their forthcoming sophomore album 18 Summers, out July 27, and that’s exactly how many hot seasons they manage to fit into three minutes of breathy vocals and playful guitar music. There’s also an accompanying music video, which you can watch below.

Frontman C.J. Burton brings an apprehensive voice to the song’s otherwise chipper musical elements. The last minute of “Lost In A Room” stutters into a quickened jam-band banger, like if every member of Widespread Panic drank several Red Bulls before hitting the stage. Besides that guitar-centric caboose, “Lost In A Room” is textbook indie rock, a splashy summer treat reminiscent of early-aughts Weezer.

Burton said of the new track, ”’Lost In A Room’ is a nose dive right into the start of an endless summer full of familiar feelings of loss and confusion that we feel when a hard-hitting love starts to become toxic.”

18 Summers follows Rome Hero Foxes’ 2016 debut, For When You’re Falling Backwards, and two follow-up EPs: I / O and Horoscope. They’ve also released the 18 Summers title track, which you can listen to further down below.
