Rostam Says First Single from New Album Coming “Really Soon”
Photos by Emma McIntyre/GettyRostam Batmanglij keeps himself busy as both a producer and collaborator, recently working on tracks for the likes of Maggie Rogers, Haim, Wet and Lykke Li (among many others). But soon, he may be offering up his second LP as a solo musician, the follow-up to last year’s Half-Light.
The multi-instrumentalist formerly of Vampire Weekend teased his forthcoming record in an Instagram post Wednesday night, writing, “we mastered the first single from the record today (and the record is a work-in-progress for sure).” He also says he’s aiming to create a “minimalist,” 30-minute album, and that the first single may debut sooner than you’d think, revealing further details in responses to fan comments on the post.
Looks like Rostam wants us to keep our ears tuned and our eyes open for the album information that’s coming “soon af,” although he noted in a comment, “I don’t know when the album is going to be done though.” In the meantime, there’s an entire playlist of Rostam-influenced tunes to explore, curated by the man himself. (Asked by a fan on Instagram whether he would make more music with Leithauser, Rostam responded, “we will definitely make more music … we are like family!”)
