“We run the jewels in your town, a quarter pound on my person / I’m known for pounding the stage, I’m talking burning and cursing,” Killer Mike spits on Run the Jewels’ first record. Exactly that and more are what Stateside audiences have to look forward to come 2017, when Killer Mike and El-P, a.k.a. white-hot hip-hop duo Run the Jewels, launch the North American leg of their newly announced world tour.
Aptly dubbed the Run the World Tour, the duo’s first wave of dates kicks off on Jan. 11 in Philly, then brings them down through the Southeast, out to the West Coast, through the Midwest and across the northern border for a pair of Canadian dates before wrapping up on El-P’s home turf in New York City in late February. Supporting acts include Gaslamp Killer, Spark Master Tape and Cuz.
During a recent Twitter Q&A, El-P revealed that the release of the duo’s much-anticipated third album, Run the Jewels 3, is fluid at the moment, explaining, “i do not actually know %100 if it will be out this year, but we hope so. if not it will be out at the very top of next year.” While it’s tough to be left in limbo on that one, it seems clear the album will be out before the world tour. So far, our only tastes of RTJ 3 are advance tracks “Talk To Me” and “Panther Like a Panther.”
Find Run the Jewels’ North American dates and badass tour poster below, and if your city is excluded, never fear: El-P promised (multiple times) on Twitter that there are plenty more dates to come. Tickets go on sale starting Nov. 4—find them on Run the Jewels’ website here.
