Louisville-based multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Ryan Davis has announced New Threats From the Soul, the newest album from him and his outfit, the Roadhouse Band. The project will deliver the record on July 25 via Sophomore Lounge/Tough Love, and the title track lead single features Freakwater vocalist Catherine Irwin. Davis and the Roadhouse Band were last seen on the Manning Fireworks Tour with MJ Lenderman, where they joined the breakout guitarist onstage for a cover of Warren Zevon’s “Werewolves of London.”
New Threats From the Soul marks Ryan Davis and The Roadhouse Band’s first release since their 2023 debut LP Dancing on the Edge. These new songs, a press release says, will interrogate “the perplexities of human efficacy and agency in an absurd and debased world.” The album will feature harmonies from Irwin, Will Oldham, Lou Turner, and Myriam Gendron. Talk about a guestlist! Listen to the country-punk rabble-rouser “New Threats From the Soul” and check out the album’s artwork and tracklist below.
