We’re pretty sure that we should be hallucinating right now. It doesn’t mean that we are, but this feels like the hallucination of our dreams, the way that it’s supposed to feel.

We start off with “Amber Hands” and we’re confused. We’re terrified about where this is going, where we’re being taken and we can’t tell if this is good or bad. We’re thinking that it’s going in the wrong direction though. We’ve gone off the rails and there is NO bringing it back. We’re going to be buried. We think we’re still alive, in fact, we’re very certain of that and that would make the burial twice as bad, unfortunate even.

From there, the UK group S.C.U.M. take us into “Cast Into Seasons,” a song that makes us settle down a lot. Everything has shifted into a more stable level and we’re no longer afraid of where we’re being taken. We consider that this is going to work out, that we won’t be ground up in an engine and strewn about the ground like a shower of blood, muscle and bone. The lights are still pulsing and we’re not out of the moody and somewhat scary woods just yet, but conditions are more favorable, hallucination-wise. Lead singer Thomas Cohen then scoops us right up in his arms and we move into a gentler portion of the freak-out. The looping sounds and the distorted sensations die down some and we feel as if Cohen knows exactly the right way to whisper, the right foods to offer us, how to administer the prescription or the antidote. We’re still hallucinating, but this is a place that we could see ourselves living if it stays temperate and mostly like this. The occasional fucked up moments could be navigated.
