In honor of SXSW 2019, Paste will be highlighting the best sessions previously recorded during the festival at the Riverview Bungalow in Austin.
Alejandro Rose-Garcia, a.k.a. Shakey Graves, shook up his hometown of Austin, Texas back in 2015 with a jolting performance of “The Perfect Parts,” a scathing and anthemic folk-rock ballad taken from his 2014 debut album, And the War Came.
Situated somewhere between the western flair of jangly Americana, smoky ambiance and devil-may-care head-banging, there is Shakey Graves, spilling out tales of hometowns and heartbreaks (often both, as is the case with “The Perfect Parts”) best consumed fireside. Maybe with a little bit of whiskey, for best results.
Got a little SXSW FOMO, wishing you were stomping your feet in the Texas dirt? No worries, just check out the video below. Further down, hear Shakey Graves’ 2014 Daytrotter session.
