Sharon Van Etten has had a momentous 2019, releasing one of the year’s very best albums in Remind Me Tomorrow. Its third single “Seventeen” landed not only atop Paste’s list of this year’s best songs, but also near the apex of our favorite songs of the decade. So you could say we’re pleased to report Van Etten performed the track while making her Late Show debut last night, and accompanied by Norah Jones, no less.
Van Etten and Jones recently collaborated on an Amazon Original version of the Remind Me Tomorrow standout, and it’s that soulful, subdued iteration of “Seventeen” they performed on Colbert Thursday night. Van Etten and Jones, playing acoustic guitar and keyboard, respectively, trade verses, then sing in unison on the song’s choruses and bridge, delivering husky and emotive vocals as they lock eyes from opposite ends of the stage.
Van Etten continues to tour in support of Remind Me Tomorrow, performing at Wilco’s Sky Blue Sky Festival in Mexico in January before returning to the States for eight southeastern stops in April.
