Slowdive have released “kisses,” the lead single from their new LP everything is alive, set to arrive September 1 via Dead Oceans. After reforming and releasing 2017’s Slowdive, the band continues to explore the ethereal, spacey sound they have perfected over the past three decades. “kisses” is pulsing and liquid-smooth, distorted and rhythmic. Rachel Goswell and Neil Halstead’s recognizable melodies, soft as a whisper, float and sway above an ethereal synth track.
everything is alive finds Slowdive diving deep into their rich internal history; a rumination on the earth-shifting changes its members have seen as they’ve entered their 50s. Across eight tracks, the album is reflective and rich, as multi-layered thematically as it promises to be sonically.
