Watch Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy Cover “Iris” by The Goo Goo Dolls Live in Chicago

Snail Mail’s Lindsey Jordan treated fans to a Pitchfork Music Festival aftershow at Thalia Hall in Chicago on Saturday, July 20, and it’s the closest to heaven you’re likely to be on this Monday morning.

With a set consisting mostly of beloved Lush songs, Jordan surprised her audience by bringing Soccer Mommy’s Sophie Allison, who performed at Pitchfork Music Festival the day before, to the stage.

Allison sang “Iris,” the 1998 hit from The Goo Goo Dolls, and harmonized with Jordan as she played her signature red electric Fender.

This isn’t the first time Jordan has covered “Iris” herself. One of her notable Goo Goo Dolls tributes occurred at her End of The Road set in England in September 2018. And Allison isn’t the only notable performer to share a stage with Jordan this past weekend, either: Jordan also performed “Speaking Terms” alongside Clairo during Snail Mail’s Pitchfork set.

Other epic recent covers from Snail Mail include her rendition of Lois Maffeo’s “The 2nd Most Beautiful Girl in The World,” and her live version of The Hummingbirds’ “Alimony” with Hatchie and Alvvays. Soccer Mommy also recently covered “I’m on Fire” by Bruce Springsteen last year.

Watch the two indie-rock stars honor The Goo Goo Dolls via the fan-shot footage below, and revisit Soccer Mommy’s 2018 Paste Studio session further down.
