Sorry Share Elvis-Impersonating “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” Video, Unveil First-Ever U.S. Tour Dates

Indie British innovators you need to know Sorry seem to have a thing for the King of Rock and Roll. Their last video, “Right Round the Clock,” featured a raggedy Elvis impersonator doing karaoke of none other than Sorry’s new single itself. B-side “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” takes Sorry’s compellingly strange mixture of hubris and self-deprecation a little bit further: This time, it’s 22-year-old frontwoman Asha Lorenz in the Elvis costume (and, later, a manic-pixie-dream-girl pink wig).
The track is another moody, shapeshifting triumph from the young band, who haven’t had a single stumble yet. The video, which, like “Right Round the Clock,” was directed by Lorenz and Jasper Cable-Alexander, makes a bum out of the King, who drinks beer in the daylight, wanders through desolate streets and eats sandwiches alone in the park. In her pink wig, Lorenz also plays the part of the mysterious nocturnal muse, bringing both swaggering male musicians and their bogus fantasies down a peg. Like Sorry’s 2018 standout “Starstruck,” the new track tells of being objectified by a sleazy big-shot who brags about his manipulative pick-up schemes. “Fucked all night, stayed up late,” sings Lorenz, “Felt my assets fall away.” Sounding endearingly bored as ever, she recounts unsolicited, condescending advice (“He said you gotta just follow the part / You are not who are”) from the title’s “washed-up rock ‘n’ roll star.”
Sorry’s full-length debut, 925, is set for release in spring of 2020. Along with the new video, Sorry have announced their first U.S. tour dates ever. Watch “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” and check out their dates below.
