Spiral Stairs Drops New Song “Dundee Man,” Announces Tour Dates

Pavement never exactly did light and breezy. The group was capable of crafting catchy tunes but even, say, “Gold Soundz” or “Shady Lane” had a certain weightiness to it.

With “Dundee Man,” the second single from his first LP in eight years, Spiral Stairs (Scott Kannberg) crafts a carefree tune for a sunny day. Kannberg’s voice just sort of floats over the leisurely unspooling guitar as he noncommittally talks about eating haggis meat and wandering around the song’s namesake Scottish town. Its low-key and low-stakes and totally enjoyable, and he’s coming to the chorus now.

Spiral Stairs’ new record, Doris & the Daggers, drops March 27 via Nine Mile/Domino and you can preorder it here. Check out the new song and tour dates for Spiral Stairs below.
